Help Good Theater Thrive

Dear Friends,

Thank you for being part of the Good Theater community. Whether you have joined us in the audience, told a friend about a show, or made a generous contribution, your support has helped Good Theater grow into a vital home for professional theater in Maine. For more than 24 years, we have welcomed over 195,000 people to 150+ professional productions, including more than 30 Maine premieres.

Your generosity has a real and lasting impact. Because of your support, Good Theater has employed more than 700 Maine-based actors, musicians, designers, technicians, and stage managers. Today, 42% of our annual budget goes directly toward artist and production salaries. During our first season at Stevens Square Theater, we welcomed approximately 15,000 patrons and significantly increased attendance among younger audiences through accessible ticketing and community outreach.

Your support reaches far beyond our own productions. In its first year alone, the newly renovated Stevens Square Theater served as a 480-seat, accessible cultural hub for over a dozen arts organizations, nonprofits, businesses, and community groups from across the region. In addition, by employing exceptional local artists and technicians, contracting with Maine vendors, partnering with area businesses, and drawing audiences to the surrounding neighborhood, the dollars invested in Good Theater stay local and strengthen our community.

Operating a larger, year-round venue brings so many wonderful opportunities, but also higher production, labor, and facility costs. As audience purchasing habits continue to shift and broader economic pressures affect both patrons and arts organizations, donations and individual support help us plan responsibly and continue producing high-quality, accessible theater.

As we look ahead, I hope you will consider making a gift to Good Theater. Whether you are renewing your support, giving a little more, donating for the first time, or including Good Theater in your estate plans, you are helping employ Maine artists and ensuring our theater remains a welcoming place for the entire community.

We have an incredible audience, extraordinary local artists, and a beautiful theater to call home. With your help, we can make sure Good Theater continues to thrive for years to come.

With deep gratitude,

Gusta Johnson, Executive Director
