“Curtain Up!,” an exciting preview of what Portland’s many theater companies offer will take place in Congress Square (at the corner of Congress and High Streets) this Friday, Sept 2, 4:30-7:30pm p.m. as part of the First Friday Art Walk. Pick up a "Theater Sampler Card" which includes information about each company and ticket discounts. GOOD THEATER is offering a $10 coupon good for Wednesday Eve performances. See you there!

Good Theater recently received a grant from the Sam L. Cohen Foundation for $4,000 to assist the company with general operating expenses during the 2010-2011 season. This is the third time the Cohen Foundation has awarded money to Good Theater. Good Theater is a 501c3 non-profit in its 9th season of operation. Good Theater is the professional company in residence at the St. Lawrence Arts Center, 76 Congress Street, Portland.
Good Theater was formed in 2002 by Stephen Underwood and Brian P. Allen. Since its inception, Good Theater has presented 36 main stage productions and more than 20 special events.
Currently playing at Good Theater is the Maine premiere of Moonlight and Magnolias by Ron Hutchinson, directed by Brian P. Allen and starring Stephen Underwood, Brent Askari, Tony Reilly and Lynne McGhee. This show plays through February 27. Next up at Good Theater is the Portland premiere of Bedroom Farce by Alan Ayckbourn March 10-April 3 starring Cathy Counts, Deirdre Fulton Janice Gardner, Meredith Lamothe, Bob McCormack, William McDonough III, Erik Moody and Mark Rubin. Allen again serves as director.

Friday evening performances will begin at 7:30pm this year. Also, a Wednesday evening performance will be added to the 2nd week of each production and will begin at 7:30pm. See you at the theater!
